Student Feedback

Each semester at Indiana University Bloomington, students are asked to complete an Online Course Questionnaire (OCQ).  Here, they provide feedback about both the course and the instructor and have the freedom to explain things they did and did not like.  Below are some excerpts from various OCQs in my teaching career, along with a letter of recommendation written by a student for my accepted proposal course at the Collins Living Learning Center.

Spring 2020, W131 Basic Writing Section B

This was by far my favorite class that I have taken at IU so far for multiple reasons. The in class activities were keeping me focused and engaged in a fun way every day, and there was a perfect amount of outside class work. I was excited to go to class everyday, and can't say that about a lot of my classes.

Spring 2019, Basic Writing

"She was very knowledgeable about the subject, and always came in with an enthusiastic attitude. She made class interesting for students to engage in. She was always open and available, and she greatly cares about the feedback she receives. You can tell she put a lot of hard work and effort into planning the class."

Fall 2018, W131 Reading, Writing, & Inquiry Section A

"Ms. Line was really understanding of how some people understand readings and other materials differently than their peers. She made it really comfortable if you were struggling with what something meant or if you disagreed with what others were saying when it came to the point of something we were looking at. It was a really nice way to learn because it was comfortable and there were so many different acceptable answers."

Fall 2017, W131 Reading, Writing, & Inquiry

"The overall topic of this course was very interesting and connected to all of the essays, so I received more information with each essay. Ms. Line motivated me to try my hardest in the class and become a better writer."

Fall 2019, Wretched Worlds: Dystopias in Fiction

"Sarah Line is an amazing instructor with a lot of passion for her topic of instruction and I adored her engagement and dedication to teaching the material, as well as her emphasis on making sure the material was learned. Also, I absolutely adored the personal and detailed feedback on assignments. It is so frustrating to do an assignment and simply receive a grade with no explanation for given grade. I would highly encourage all instructors to provide the level of feedback on assignments that Sarah did."

Fall 2018, Reading, Writing, & Inquiry Section B

"Ms. Line is the best English teacher I have ever had. She engages her students in her lessons. She does a great job of introducing and explaining topics. She is extremely helpful during office hours."

Student Letter of Recommendation for Collins Living Learning Center, Fall 2019

"I can honestly say that Ms. Line is a PHENOMENAL TEACHER...She has made me actually enjoy English which I never thought would happen..."
